Cod liver oil summer

It is important to take in enough omega-3 and vitamin D throughout the year. Möller's cod liver oil is rich in these essential nutrients, plus Vitamin A and E.

Omega-3 for the whole body
Omega-3 fatty acids are important for the functioning of the entire body - including brain, eyes, heart - all year round. Also in the summer, these organs require omega-3!
We eat too little fish (Recommendation is to eat fatty fish at least once a week). Fish is the largest source of omega-3 (EPA and DHA). Fish consumption does not change dramatically over the seasons. Therefore, Omega-3 should also be supplemented in summer.

Vitamin D and the sun
In summer, more vitamin D is produced in the skin, but still supplementing is also very desirable in summer.

Closed windows do not let through UVB light, thus creating no vitamin D inside. If we want to create enough vitamin D, we need to be outside, at the right time of the day. The hours between 10.00 and 15.00 are the only hours in which enough UVB light reaches the earth to produce vitamin D in the skin. But ... then you have to watch out for sunburn.
Sunscreen factor 8 (SPF) reduces the production of vitamin D by 95%.
In short, we aren’t outside enough at the right time of the day. And when we are outside, we need to protect ourselves well from the sun. This causes a deficiency in vitamin D, which is a common problem in Europe.

In addition, the older you are, the less vitamin D your body makes. A 70-year-old produces only 25% of the vitamin D that is produced by a 20-year-old. Dark skin produces less efficient vitamin D than lighter skin does.

So ... even in summer it is not certain that the sun provides enough vitamin D. Fish consumption is also insufficient in summer. That's why it's important to take Möller's Cod Liver Oil in the summer too!
